FAQs

Will my bees consume more honey if they are being heated?

This is a very common question, after years of research we have found that your bees do not consume more honey when they're being heated. This happens because your bees expend a lot of energy when they're trying to stay warm, and so if they don't need to worry about staying warm, they end up consuming fewer calories, and often consuming less honey throughout the entire winter.

What if I leave the hiveheater on too long?

Bees are robust when it comes to warm temperatures. Beehives have been known to survive internal temperatures above 130°, the only real concern being that the wax could melt. Leaving the Hiveheater on for an extra week or two won't hurt the bees, but we will be sending out reminder emails at the end of every season just in case!

How does the hiveheater lower the humidity inside the hive?

By increasing the airflow inside of the hive, humidity is decreased

Does this product work with all Hive sizes?

We will be shipping models for both 8 and 10-frame Langstroth hives during the 2024 season, and expanding to less common hive sizes

Haven't used yet but seems solid unit . But I received mine 3 out of 4 that the inside slides up and down it slams pretty hard against the frame overtime if not careful might cause damage when moving on and off hive . I only received one that inside is in a permanent fixed spot not sure if this will affect the units functionality or not. Not much on install instructions pretty vague . Need to know things like should it be installed above or below candy boards to prevent melting and so on or how to install on a single deep . Do we put a empty box on bottom and brood box on top with unit in between. Like I stated we need more install information for different scenarios that us beekeepers have on a daily basis . Very slow at responding to emails always over a week or more . All 4 units I received does not have the purple trim like shown in videos on their website kinda makes me think these are the earlier versions of the heater . Kinda up in the air about this company at this point .

Solid Product but Could Be Improved

My bees live through this winter, thanks in part to the HiveHeater. My only suggestion would be to include a better way to monitor how well it’s working. But overall, I’m happy with it

Best solution I have tried

I’ve been keeping bees for years, but the HiveHeater is the first thing that’s actually made a noticeable difference in their winter survival.

Great Product, But Setup Took Some Time

The HiveHeater has been great for my bees, but I wish the setup instructions were a bit clearer. I had to get as stand out and setup so the HiveHeater did not sit on the ground. Once I figured it out, though, it worked exactly as promised. My bees seemed much healthier this winter

Saved My Colony

I was losing bees to the cold every winter until I tried the HiveHeater. This year, my colony actually thrived instead of just surviving. I’m genuinely impressed with how well it worked
